David Villa suffers leg break as Barcelona beat Al- Sadd
European
champions Barcelona beat Asian champions Al
Sadd 4-0 at the Club World Cup semifinals on
Thursday, bringing the team one step closer to the
final championship. Al Sadd could barely touch the ball during the first
half of the game, as Barcelona owned 70 percent of
possession, and Adriano struck twice to cement
Barcelona's victory. Adriano's first in the 25th minute came at the
expense of the clumsy defending by Ibrahim
Abdulmajed. Barcelona went up 2-0 in the 43rd minute when
Thiago put Adriano through for a left-footed strike. The dominance of Barcelona continued in the send
half of the game, and Keita made it 3-0 four minutes
past the hour. Substitute Maxwell netted the fourth
nine minutes before the end of game. The only concern Barcelona had all game was the
early departure of David Villa, Spain's World Cup-
winning striker, who was injured in the 39th
minute after landing on his left foot. Barcelona won the tournament two years ago in
Abu Dhabi. The team will face off Santos in the final
on Sunday.
